bald badass

As some of you may know and others may have guessed my mom has caner. While the worst part is over, she starts radiation tomorrow, and still has a ways to go. All that aside she is the strongest women I know, and I admire her courage and strength every day.

After much contemplation, and deliberation my mom finally decided to tattoo her head.

A bald female has a striking appearance, it's extremely unusual, and people tend to notice. A couple weeks ago we were approached by a (2nd grade?) boy scout trying to sell us popcorn, but before he could make his sales pitch he blurted out, "Hey you're the same lady that was at Resources a few weeks ago!" and he was correct; she was there about two weeks prior to do some grocery shopping.

My mom hates being bald, and I know all she wants is to be normal again. To stop having to worry about what foods will upset her stomach, or if she will have the energy to do the things that need to be done. So rather than trying to fight the baldness by covering up with hats all the time, she decided to embrace it, by tattooing it. If you're going to be bald why not be bald and beautiful? She picked her favorite colors, and an organic design. When her hair grows back it'll be gone, like a secret. She had mentioned keeping the underneath shaved to have just the end of it poking out when he hair is up, so we will see how that goes. She loves it, and she's excited to show it off now, as a fashion statement rather than a burden.
